Physical Activity
Aim
To promote an environment whereby the whole school community is committed to developing healthier lifestyles. The school provides a range of opportunities both within the curriculum and out of curriculum hours.
Definition: Physical Activity
Physical activity is defined as any force exerted by skeletal muscle that results in energy expenditure above resting level and includes the full range of human movement, from competitive sport and exercise to active hobbies, walking and cycling or activities of daily living (DH 2004). Different types and amounts of physical activity are required for different outcomes. The Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) of physical activity for adults is at least 30 minutes on five or more days of the week, for children it's one hour (WHO 2009).

- Physical Activity policy
- PE schemes of work – samples
- Sportsmark or Activemark award information if relevant
- Evidence of relevant cross-curricular links
- Copies of relevant training attended/evaluations
- Relevant needs assessment forms and/or personal development plans - samples
