Geography
Title: How safe are our journeys to school?
The materials use a geographical enquiry framework to focus on asking questions about the school's local transport network, gathering data and information about the network through fieldwork and questionnaire, analysing and representing the data and information, and making decisions about what improvements can be made, based on the analysis.
The resulting analyses could easily be used to inform a school travel plan. The materials prompt teachers to use technology for data collection, analysis and presentation though alternative methods are also made clear.
Activities are centred around using PDAs. There are a number of PDAs available to borrow from Surrey County Council. It is also possible to complete the activities without the PDAs. Please see the lesson plans for more details.
