Healthy Schools Celebration Event 2007

‘The Celebration Event was a lovely way for us to congratulate schools for all the hard work that has been done to encourage children and young people in Surrey to lead healthy lifestyles and support them in their learning at school. The teachers and young people who gave presentations at the event were excellent ambassadors for the scheme and it is clear how much they have enjoyed contributing to their schools’ involvement’, said Liz Griffiths, Surrey Healthy Schools Consultant.

In recognition of the fact that over 50% of Surrey schools have now achieved National Healthy Schools Status (NHSS), the Surrey Healthy Schools team held an event to celebrate this fantastic achievement on Thursday 12th July 2007 at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking. The afternoon provided an opportunity for the Healthy Schools team to congratulate all of the schools involved, and offered networking opportunities with other schools and key partnership agencies, as well as details of how schools can sustain and enhance their good practice. Schools that achieved the status this year were presented with a Healthy Schools plaque.

Pupils and teachers from Ash Grange Primary, Clifton Hill Special School, and St Peter's Catholic Comprehensive Schools shared their successes and told us about how they had achieved the award.
