National Healthy Schools Baseline Audit

National Healthy Schools Baseline Audit

A school can be described as achieving National Healthy School Status when there is evidence demonstrating impact against the criteria in the Baseline Audit.

Step 1: Download the blank baseline audit (see below).

Step 2: With your colleagues and/or Healthy School action group, go through each criterion and circle Y, N or D for each point (Y = yes, we are already doing this; N = no, we are not doing this; D = area for developing). This will show the areas that you are already achieving, as well as those they might need more attention.

Step 3: Agree with your Healthy School action group which areas you are going to work on together. For example, if your Drug and Alcohol Policy hasn't been written, you might like to write it together.

NB: Throughout this process, do contact the Healthy Schools Team, as they will be able to give advice and suggestions.

Step 4: Once you have completed the audit (that is, all criteria have a Y next to them), your school is ready to complete the self-validation process (from January 2007). Your Healthy Schools link member will explain the self-validation process and will help you fill in the self-validation form (see below).
