Self Review School Information
What happens after you have achieved NHSS?
Once your school has achieved National Healthy School Status, you have the status for 3 years. During those 3 years, your Healthy Schools action team should continue to meet to review the audit and update it if necessary. For example, if your school has re-written its Whole School Food Policy, this could be reflected in an updated audit.
What is the self-review process?
It is a good idea to have an action team meeting every year to review your progress and to track changes. Healthy School Status is an evolving programme and your action team may have new ideas to try out. The self-review process is a way forward for your school. It also gives new pupils the opportunity to join in with the programme.
When does the self-review process begin?
Every 3 years, your school will be invited to go through the re-accreditation process to maintain the National Healthy School Status. If your school decides not to go through the re-accreditation process, it will lose the status; however, your school can reapply.
